Gulpener

Gulpener – the independent brewer!

The independent brewer - short
You can taste the freedom! This belief has been giving our beers flavour and soul since 1825.  As an independent family brewery, we choose to brew the most flavoursome, distinct and pure beers, without compromise.   The only brewer to use water from our own sources, hops from our own hop garden and barley from our beautiful province of Limburg. Taste the freedom.  Gulpener.  Independent brewer since 1825.

The independent brewer – long
We’ve mastered the art of bringing flavours and aromas together in beers with a distinctive character since 1825. Distinct because we are independent and therefore free to brew beers the way we think they should be – pure, rich and refined. As an independent family brewery we can indulge our passion, through a continuous search for increasingly better taste. We are free to choose the region’s best raw materials, such as hops from our own hop garden, barley from among forty regional farmers and water from our own sources. This makes Gulpener the only real beer from Dutch soil. We are also free to be pioneers (we already are in the field of sustainability) in our ongoing quest for innovative craftsmanship. The art of brewing is constantly being perfected. We are free to do what feels right. And that's what you get.  Pure, unsurpassed taste.  We are "The Independent Brewer”. A confirmation of the past and a guarantee for the future. Gulpener. Independent brewer since 1825.

OUR STORY,
We are Gulpener, a proud and long-lasting family brewery from the southernmost tip of Limburg.  We’ve been attuned to the great diversity of flavours and aromas which have given our beers their distinctive character since 1825. They’re distinct because we are free. We’re free because we are an independent family brewery. Free to go our own way. Free to do what feels right. That’s why we call ourselves “The Independent Brewer”.  At liberty to determine how we think beer should taste.  Free – not to make the taste more bland, but to enrich it.  Constantly looking for rich, new flavours derived from the finest local ingredients: hops from our own hop garden, barley, wheat, rye and spelt from 40 farmers throughout our region and water from our own sources. These are the natural raw materials for our beers. But there’s more to it. This is great beer resulting from all of the above, of course, but it’s also down to the dedication of everyone involved - from farmer to brewer and from brewer to bar staff. All of these elements together make up the distinctive taste of our beers. That ever-distinct taste we want to surprise the true beer lover with time and time again.

Everything together makes this beer Gulpener.  The only real beer from Dutch soil.  For those who appreciate the pure taste of beer.

CSR
Corporate social responsibility is in our blood. For over a century, we’ve not only taken on the challenges we’ve faced – we’ve deliberately looked for them. Sustainability and corporate social responsibility go together. Not because they have to but because this fits in with our vision of best practice and value creation for human beings and the environment. We believe in growth but it should never be the main objective. We prefer to go for a sustainable basis and organic development and to focus on our regional character, quality products and transparency.  Gulpener cherishes its suppliers, who are united by the Triligran cooperative. 40 farmers who, with care and passion for their land, provide the ingredients for our delicious beers. We value our employees, who with great knowledge and experience - and devotion in particular - produce the different kinds of beer. We embrace our clients and customers. Those who choose something different. Those who know how to enjoy a well-brewed and freshly-poured glass of beer.

HISTORY
Gulpener has been brewing beer since 1825. Starting with a fermented beer that cost 80 guilders for a “groote kuip” “(literally, “big tub”) which went on to become a company with 16 different beers and lagers and with an output of 100,000 hectoliters per year. Our family has passed that entrepreneurial spirit and innovative power down from generation to generation. No world wars or financial crises have blown us off course. And why’s that? Because we know better than anyone not to abandon R & D and to rely on suppliers and employees. With an eye for the long-term, Gulpener has built a solid and lasting foundation, where a large group of people and the environmental benefit. To emphasize this, we as a brewery, along with all of our employees, signed the Nature Covenant in 2001. This spirited mission statement lays down our central choice for corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
